JANNIE WILSON Obituary

Jannie Lee (Jones) Wilson
Jannie gained her heavenly wings on Saturday July 15, 2023 in the comfort of her
home with her husband by her side.
Born: July 18, 1951, Lubbock Texas the 8 th Child of 11 born to the union
John H. Jones Sr. and Rosie Lee (Pigues) Jones.
Proceeded in death by: Her loving son, Jerome Briscoe Jones, her parents, six
brothers, Joe, Nathaniel, Robert, Daniel, Lemmie and John Jones Jr. and one sister,
Josephine Mukes.

Jannie attended school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and East St. Louis, Illinois. She
was most recently employed by Tampa Public Schools as a transportation worker
but held many positions throughout her life.
She confessed her faith in the Lord at a young age and was a long-term member of
Church of the Living God Temple Number II and Temple Number IV in Decatur,
Illinois. She was recently a member of Lighthouse Freedom Center until she
became ill.
Jannie loved to cook, sew, sing (lead singer for the Gospel Unlimited in Decatur,
Illinois for many years along with her sisters and cousins). She also loved to
decorate and design clothes. Jannie loved hats and you could find her in church
every Sunday with a fashionable suit with matching hat and gloves. She was truly a
fashionista! She was loved by the community and her house on Elm Street in
Decatur was a sanctuary for many young people. Her smile was contagious and she
always had a joke and a laugh in all situations. She was the life of any event and
people of all ages flocked to be around her to hear the stories she told.
Jannie was united in Marriage to George W. Wilson and they remained together for
over 50 years until her death. They had a blended family of six children.
Jannie leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her good works: Her husband of
over 50 years, George Wilson, and her children, Kimberly Allen (Decatur, Illinois);
Crystal (Willie) Edwards (Tampa, Florida); George Allen (Decatur, Illinois), Jannie
Allen of Tampa Florida and Murphy (Tyke) Allen of Tampa Florida.
Jannie leaves one grand-daughter Aaryanna, whom she was raising that will truly
miss her and helped with Jannie’s day to day care.

She also leaves: Two sisters: Shirley Jones of Tampa, Florida; Jawanda (Brian)
Lark of Lansing, Michigan and one brother, William Jones of Joliet, Illinois: 19 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great
grandchild.

She leaves many, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, a host
of cousins and friends will all search to fill the void Jannie left in their lives.
