GRACE ESSIE (LUCAS) SANCHEZ

Grace Essie (Lucas) Sanchez was born on February 2, 1930, in Coleman, Florida to the late Grant W. Lucas and Valdora Harris Lucas Jacobs. She was the fourth oldest of ten children. Grace was educated in the Sumter County School System and attended J.R.E. Lee High School in the neighboring town of Wildwood, Florida. 

In 1969, Grace and her family moved to Orlando, Florida where she resided on Prince Hall Boulevard until the Lord called her home. Professionally, she was a manager at the Host Marriott on Florida Turnpike for 28 years. 

Grace was just as dedicated to her family as she was her job. She loved making home cooked meals and baking. She made her flavorful and scrumptious food with "GRACE". Her love overflowed from her family to friends, as she never met a stranger that she did not feed or comfort in her home. As the family's matriarch, she was also a diva that loved to dress, shop, and travel. God's Grace was loved every where she went.

At an early age, she joined Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Coleman, Florida. In her later years, Grace was a member of Carter Tabernacle CME Church in Orlando before changing her membership to Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a Silver Angels member. 

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: children: Sarah Massey-Miller, Bonnie Butler, Alfreida Sanchez, Alford Sanchez, Josa Sanchez, Teresa Sanchez, and Selina Sanchez; sisters: Annie Johnson and Patricia (Robert) Hurst; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a host other relatives and many friends.
